For more than two decades, I have enjoyed a warm masala chai as an afternoon pick-me-up in place of coffee. I really enjoy the mélange of spices that infuse water with a splash of milk, ranging from the woody notes of cardamom to the pungent bite of ginger and the earthy kick of black pepper. But in the peak of the day with so much going on, I struggle to make time to toast all the fragrant spices for my everyday masala chai. Then, one day, I was perusing the aisles at Trader Joe’s and saw their Spiced Chai Black Tea Concentrate. And I thought to myself, what the heck. Let’s try it! With time, I was able to doctor up the most luscious chai latte, using this black tea concentrate and Chobani’s Extra Creamy Oatmilk, which I froth to make it all the creamier. And the entire process takes just 7 minutes. While not a masala chai, it’s delicious in its own right and perfect for a busy schedule!

Ingredients
  • ½ cup Trader Joe’s Spiced Chai Black Tea Concentrate
  • ½ cup + 3 T. Chobani’s Extra Creamy Oatmilk
  • Equipment: frother. I use Bodum’s Bistro Barista Milk Frother but it’s temperamental. Any decent frother should work.
Directions
  • Step 1 Measure out your oat milk and pour it into your frother and initiate the cycle, pushing the button if there is one to froth it. Conversely, if you have a hand frother, just manually froth the milk.
  • Step 2 Meanwhile, measure out your black tea concentrate and microwave it for 45 seconds or until it’s hot.
  • Step 3 When the oat milk is done frothing and the tea is hot, combine the two in your favorite mug. And that’s it, so simple yet sensational! Enjoy!

This luscious 7-minute chai latte boasts an explosion of flavors and hints of spices that pair perfectly with a creamy oat milk that is frothed to utter perfection!
